BIOGRAPHY
Jodi Foster was born Alicia Christian Foster in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Lucian, left the family before she was born, and her mother became a film producer to support the family. Foster was a genuine child prodigy. She was in show business by the time she was three as the bare-bottomed Coppertone baby. She had acted in nearly 40 commercial by the time she was eight. When she was ten, she was supporting the whole family with her acting revenues. She made her first feature film, NAPOLEON & SAMANTHA, when she was ten years old. Her first Academy Award nomination came for her role in TAXI DRIVER when she was fourteen. She has since been nominated three more times for an Academy Award, winning the Oscar for her performances in THE ACCUSED and THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. Foster graduated valedictorian of her class from Los Angeles Lycee Francais and magna cum laude from Yale University. While she was attending Yale, a man named John Hinckley Jr. attempted to assassinate President Reagan. She later wrote an essay about the event entitled "Why Me?"
Foster made her directorial debut with the movie LITTLE MAN TATE. Her production company is called Egg Pictures. She currently lives in the San Fernando Valley with her son, Charles.
