1 lb. hamburger
1/2 cup rice
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 egg
1 onion, chopped fine
2 tablespoon butter
salt and pepper
1 head of cabbage
1/2 pound bacon, cooked
1 can tomato soup
Remove core from head of cabbage with a knife. Scald cabbage in boiling water. Remove a few leaves at a time as they wilt. Cook rice in 2 quarts boiling water for 10 minutes. Rinse in cold water and drain. Saute onion in butter, combine with meat, egg, rice and seasonings and mix well. Open up cabbage leaves. Put meat and rice mixture in center of each cabbage leaf and roll up, starting with heavy end, then fold in sides and fasten with toothpicks. Place cabbage rolls in baking dish, cover with bacon strips.
Mix together 1 can tomato soup and 1 can of water. Pour over cabbage rolls and roast for 2 hours in a 300 degree oven.
